The North Set is a juried pop-up residency that will grant three visual artists free studio space with stipend for 7 weeks. It is important for artists to speak their minds through their work and it is our intention to provide the opportunity so they can do so. The program provides structure and support, empowering them to reach optimal productivity in the studio, a network of mentors and a platform to present their work. Our hope is to present a model in which unknown artists may become known, and for the space to inspire new levels of energy and inspiration for all artists involved.
Artists in residence will be given a private studio free of charge and a $500 stipend to be used at their discretion during their two months. A jury of local curators and one gallery owner will select the artists they feel have the strongest ideas, and have the most need for the space. They will have one studio visit with their chosen artist during their residency to provide further guidance and feedback. The artists will commit to making 6 works of art while in residency and must also sign-in to the studio at least 4/7 days a week. The works created while in residence will be presented in a closing exhibition.
