Common House Open Studios Pt. II

Resident artists: Alexiah Carter, Jaylon Hicks, Jenaro Goode, and Falon Felscher & Sharo Colcchiu of NONKONFORMIST Clothing, open their studios and reveal their latest creations made within the Common House walls.

Alexiah Carter

I am an artist with a background in two-dimensional animation, illustration, and graphic design.  My artistic focus is on creating surrealistic narratives that interweaves ideas on interpersonal human connection.   By using the digital art medium as a versatile painting tool, it allows me to efficiently explore a variety of illustration styles all the while developing and crafting my own experiences into each piece I make. My work is mostly produced digitally using the Wacom Intuos tablet, and digital software programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Paint Tool Sai.

Jaylon Hicks

Creativity is everything and everything is a creation. Whether it's acknowledged or not...Communication is a necessity and doing it visually is faster and much quieter. Creativity is what life IS and art is what ties our thoughts and feelings together. Luckily I came here with enough passion to try to be some kind of mediator.

Jenaro Goode

I'm a musician.
My instrument is a paint brush.
some records are great, and some of them not so good.

Nonkonformist Clothing

Our main objective for Nonkonformist is to create clothing  made by independent designers and staying as far away from outsourced, cheap labor goods. Our longterm goal is to curate a store (online or standing) that features other designers with the primary focus being fashion, but not strictly. Our purpose is to bring awareness to consumers about how and who created the merchandise found at Nonkonformist. At the same time we will be able to provide a platform for artists and designers to grow and thrive by creating a place for them to sell their art and become more recognized and successful. We feel strongly that this concept of providing clothing designers and consumers is something that Houston needs.
